Carlos Alcaraz disappoints world with Wimbledon injury announcement

Wimbledon does not start until late June; however, one of the world’s biggest sporting events will be without one of the best players on the planet. Spain native Carlos Alcaraz informed his fans that his injury recovery is going well, but he won’t be able to play in London next month.

“My recovery is going well and I feel much better, but unfortunately I’m still not ready to be able to play, and that’s why I have to withdraw from the grass-court swing at Queen’s and Wimbledon,” Alcaraz said in his post on X. “They are two really special tournaments for me and I’ll miss them a lot. We keep working to return as soon as possible!”

Alcaraz injured his wrist last month at the Barcelona Open. He also obviously won’t play in the French Open this weekend.

Alcaraz is currently World No. 2 behind Jannik Sinner. Sinner and Alcaraz have gone back and forth on the court over the last few years, and every time they face off, it’s a spectacle to watch. Sinner took down Alcaraz at Wimbledon last year in 2025, but the Spaniard beat Sinner in 2024 and Novak Djokovic in 2023. It seems like one of those three are always in the final.

Earlier in 2026, Alcaraz won the Australian Open to complete the career Grand Slam as the youngest ever to do it. There is no doubt that he will be back and competing at the highest level.

Alcaraz spoke about patience a few weeks back after suffering the injury. It seems his patience will continue to be tested for at least another month+.
