Carlo Ancelotti handed headache as Brazil star left in tears after injury in World Cup warm-up
Brazil have been handed an injury blow ahead of the 2026 World Cup as Wesley Franca was forced off in their 2-1 friendly win over Egypt.
The Roma star appeared locked in to be their starting right-back for the tournament.

He’d started four of their last five games, including a 2-1 defeat to France.
However, the 22-year-old and the Selecao, led by legendary manager Carlo Ancelotti, now face a nervous wait for news on his injury.
Brazil had got off to a good start, with Newcastle’s Bruno Guimaraes robbing Mohanad Lasheen in midfield before lashing home after eight minutes.
Egypt leveled when Mostafa Ziko pounced on a shocking Marquinhos back-pass towards Alisson.
What happened to Wesley?
And then it got worse for Brazil with Wesley pulling up on the right flank.
He swiftly signalled to be replaced and was then seen in tears on the touchline with a towel over his head.
The Roma talent was then seen limping heavily as he made his way out of the stadium.
Who will replace Wesley?
Ancelotti put former Man City full-back Danilo on his place and he is the most likely to deputise.
Meanwhile, Vasco de Gama’s Paulo Henrique is a potential to be called up in his place.
Whether or not Wesley is cut from the roster and replaced or stays with the group will be decided in due course, according to Ancelotti.

He said: “First of all, it’s a shame to lose Wesley. We have to wait for the tests now. But we have good players to replace him.
“I have decided the starting line-up to play against Morocco.
“I came away from this game with more certainty than doubts.
“It was a very good game for us.”
Endrick the hero
It’s no surprise he was happy given Endrick sealed a 2-1 win for his team.
The Real Madrid wonderkid had seen his career stall in Spain but a loan to Lyon in the second half of the campaign has rejuvenated him.
The 19-year-old got one start and one substitute appearance with Los Blancos with no goal contributions before his mid-season switch.
In France he made 18 appearances in total with five goals, seven assists, and plenty of plaudits.
It’s left Ancelotti with a big headache given the form of fellow forwards Raphinha, Igor Thiago, Rayan, and Matheus Cunha.
He said: “He’s very powerful and is always in the right place in the penalty box. He has to keep going.
Who else has been injured ahead of the World Cup?
Sadly, we’ve already seen several players ruled out of the tournament through injury.
Argentina have been forced to send Leonardo Balerdi home due to a muscle injury, although his replacement is currently unknown.
Paraguay star Julio Enciso was stretchered off in their warm-up win over Nicaragua.
Meanwwhile, Germany and Bayern Munich wonderkid Lennart Karl has also been forced to withdraw after an injury in training.
