Cardinals’ Jordan Walker accomplishes extremely impressive feat with 1 swing vs. Twins

St. Louis Cardinals star Jordan Walker is in the middle of a true breakout season. Walker struggled in recent years, but he looks like one of the best players in the game so far in 2026. On Saturday in the Cardinals’ 9-6 win against the Minnesota Twins, Walker hit his 18th home run of the season. The long ball was far from just another home run, though, as it was the second hardest hit homer during the Statcast era (2015) at 116.6 MPH off the bat, according to Sarah Langs. Langs also reports that Walker’s long ball is the second hardest hit home run this year.

Walker is unquestionably establishing himself as one of the best players in the game. While Shohei Ohtani is likely going to win another MVP in the National League, Walker could receive consideration to be a finalist for the award if he continues to play at a high level.

Walker is now hitting .298/.353/.562 across 67 games played. The Cardinals slugger has 16 doubles and 10 stolen bases to go along with his aforementioned 18 home runs. He impacts the game in multiple ways.

With the victory, the Cardinals improved to 38-30 overall. They have continued to upset expectations in what has been a strong season. St. Louis is in second place in the National League Central standings at the moment.

The Twins defeated the Cardinals 9-8 on Friday, so the series is tied 1-1 heading into Sunday’s matchup. Jordan Walker will look to lead St. Louis to a second consecutive win on Sunday afternoon at 2:10 PM EST.
