Cam’ron leaves Iman Shumpert speechless with LeBron James ‘actually made a teammate’ mic drop

Sometimes, making appearances on First Take can lead to wild moments, like when rapper Cam’ron talked about LeBron James and his son, Los Angeles Lakers guard Bronny James.

During an appearance on First Take on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, Smith asked Cam’ron about an old comment. The rapper claimed that if the Lakers won a championship in 2026, he’d earn two championship rings because his son is on the team. Now that the Lakers are eliminated from the playoffs, Smith wants to know if the loss counts as “two sweeps.”

To Cam’ron, he pointed out the fact that James “invented” a teammate, something unique to the game, saying, “Listen, who invents a teammate? He made a teammate. He made him — he actually made a teammate!”

This caused Iman Shumpert, one of James’ former teammates, to break. He began laughing and wiping his eyes after Cam’ron stood by his comments.

LeBron James’ son, Bronny James, is his teammate on the Lakers

LeBron and Bronny James just completed their second season together on the Lakers. Bronny was selected in the second round of the 2024 NBA Draft out of USC.

He played in 27 games during his rookie season, starting one of them. In those games, he averaged 2.3 points per game in less than seven minutes per game. His second year in the NBA was a little better, appearing in 42 games and averaging just less than nine minutes every game. However, he averaged just 2.9 points per game and made 40.9% of his shots.

The Lakers are coming off a second round exit in the playoffs. They narrowly beat the Houston Rockets in six games in the first round after building a 3-0 lead.

However, their season would end in the next round. The Lakers played the Oklahoma City Thunder and were swept, losing in four games.
