Cameron Menzies reveals new lifestyle choices after heart diagnosis in emotional interview
Cameron Menzies has revealed that he has a heart condition in an emotional interview, but overall, he is doing a lot better.
The popular Scotsman hasn’t been seen in the public eye much since his dramatic exit at the PDC World Darts Championship in December.

Charlie Manby beat Menzies on his Ally Pally debut, leading to the Scotsman punching a table repeatedly.
He damaged his hand severely with blood dripping down it, while more footage later emerged showing him putting out a firework with his hand.
But Menzies has opened up about life and his new heart condition in an interview with Tungsten Tales Darts.
He said: “Life is a lot better! I’m at the gym and I’ll tell you something that not many folk know that I’ve got an issue with my heart and high blood pressure and an ectopic heartbeat.
“It’s quite common, my family has always had heart issues and stuff so my weight was bad I was 21 stone and I’m down to 18 at the moment. I am trying to look after myself a bit more because of doctor’s orders.
“Life is generally in a good place compared to where it was three or four months ago, and I’m doing hypnotherapy treatment which is a massive thing. It just makes things easier.
“I don’t know how to explain it, but when things become complicated and hard, you break it down into smaller problems.
“I’ve not had a great start of the year, but I do think I’ve been playing well in practice, and I do think in games, I’m a bit nervous because I’ve been trying too hard.”

Getting better
Even just a couple of months ago, Menzies admitted that he had no feeling in his fingers from hitting the table and stopping the pyrotechnics with his hand.
He even claimed that he had given serious thoughts of retiring.
Speaking about that at the Poland Darts Open, he said: “I’ll be honest with you, there’s been a few times that I’ve felt like wrapping it, I’m just not in a good place that way.
“If you know what happened at the Worlds, I’ve done a lot of damage to myself and basically, I have no feeling in my fingers anymore because of the damage I’ve done, so I’m struggling massively.
“But that was good to go and play well out of the doubles… it’s been a tough year… it was great to win as I was so close to pulling out this weekend because I’m not enjoying it at the moment.”
The contrast in that interview and the latest one is clear for all to see.
It appears the Scotsman is helping himself, and we will be keeping a close eye on his progress and backing him all the way.
