Cam Young had THE dream moment to win the Players Championship
Certain golf courses hold certain mystiques. This is not breaking news to anyone.
When you close your eyes and envision what it would be like to succeed or win on certain properties, your mind wanders to certain places. You see Amen Corner, surviving number 7 at Pebble Beach, there are moments in golf that hold our minds and stick out in this sense.
If you are closing your eyes and thinking about winning the Players Championship… you think of one thing.
Cam Young had THE dream moment to win the Players
Cam Young fully lived the moment that we are all thinking about. TPC Sawgrass is one of the most famous golf courses in the world, and it’s iconic number 17 is the poster for the film it spins out every year at the Players.
Young walked to 17 trailing his playing mate Matt Fitzpatrick by a stroke. There wasn’t a lot of time or golf course left to work with, and he knew he had to make a move on 17.
He made a move alright. A seismic one.
Young nailed the 9-foot-7-inch putt for birdie and drew himself even with Fitzpatrick as the duo walked to the 18th tee box. They walked away from it in wildly different situations as Young blasted his drive 375 yards to set up what was a tournament-winning par after Fitzpatrick got into trouble.
Isn’t that incredibly cool, though? Cam Young won one of the most iconic golf tournaments in the world in the very battle that it is known for. This isn’t always the case at the Players or any random tournament as things can be decided anywhere on the course. But when you think about winning this tournament… you think about doing it this way… the way that Cam Young did do it.
Good for Cam. He has quite the story to tell for the rest of his life.
