Cade Cunningham gets ‘best’ props from Duncan Robinson after Game 6 win over Magic

The Detroit Pistons pulled off a historic 24-point comeback to defeat the Orlando Magic 93-79 in Game 6 of the first round. Cade Cunningham was very much the catalyst as he led with 32 points and 10 rebounds as the Pistons forced Game 7 in Detroit on Sunday. He scored 19 points in the second half alone.

After the game, guard Duncan Robinson, who finished with 14 points and five rebounds, heaped praise on Cunningham for willing the team to victory, per Hunter Patterson of The Athletic.

“To be our best player, to be one of the best players in the world, and then in those moments trust us and he does that masterfully,” Robinson said. “I think just his tone and the way he settled us in that second half, whenever we needed a bucket, he got to his spot.”

When trailing 3-1 in the series, it was Cunningham who took on the mantle of leadership. In Game 5, he scored 45 points as the Pistons survived the series with a 116-109.

In terms of being one of the best players in the world, Cunningham tried his hardest to live up to that moniker this season. He averaged 23.9 points and 9.9 assists per game. Although he played in 64 games and missed 11 games with a collasped lung, Cunningham is eligible to receive individual honors. Earlier in the second half of the season, Cunningham was considered a top MVP contender.

His chances might be slim due to his absence at the end of the regular season.

Nevertheless, Cunningha, Robinson, and company will try to pull off another comeback on Sunday.
