Bulls rumors: Executives are reluctant to go to Chicago due to ownership

The recent firing of top executives in the Chicago Bulls’ front office can mean many things. It could open the door for new management to come in and change course after years of mediocrity.

However, it could mean things remain the same in some instances. For example, Bulls owner Michael Reinsdorf is possibly looking to keep head coach Billy Donovan.

But there is another aspect. It could be that potential executives would be hesitant to join the Bulls, per Zach Lowe of The Zach Lowe Show. Largely due to distrust of the Reinsdorf ownership

“I talked to a front office free agent who would have his pick of any job if they came open, and he said to me ‘What would you do if you’re me?’ I said whoever saves the Bulls will be a legend in the NBA forever… and he said to me ‘That sounds great in theory. I don’t trust the ownership.’”

On Monday, the Bulls fired VP Arturas Karnisovas and GM Marc Eversely. Meanwhile, Chicago is 30-49 and has three games remaining on its schedule. They are already eliminated from both the playoffs and the Play-In game.

The Reinsdorf family has owned the franchise since March 1985. Pretty much since Michael Jordan came to the city as the 3rd pick in the historic 1984 NBA Draft.

Though they witnessed one of the greatest dynasty runs in sports in the 1990s, the Reinsdorf ownership has been under siege.

Altogether, the ownership has been criticized for its reluctance to change, failure to adapt to modern analytics, reliance on internal hires, and a hands-off approach.
