Bulls rumors: Could 2020 GM job offer hint at next hire?

Recently, the Chicago Bulls opted to shake things up by firing front office executives Artūras Karnišovas and Marc Eversley at the conclusion of their disastrous 2025-26 season. The move opened up a search for a new regime to take over in Chicago and try to lead the franchise to its first real era of prosperity since Michael Jordan left town.

On Monday, ESPN NBA insider Shams Charania reported on the latest on the Bulls’ front office search.

“The Chicago Bulls have started the search process for their new head of basketball operations, receiving permission to interview Minnesota’s Matt Lloyd, Detroit’s Dennis Lindsey, Atlanta’s Bryson Graham, Cleveland’s Mike Gansey and San Antonio’s Dave Telep, per ESPN sources,” reported Charania on X, formerly Twitter. “The Bulls are also expected to speak with the co-head of CAA’s basketball division, Austin Brown, regarding the vacancy, sources said.”

Charania also reported on an interesting nugget regarding Brown from the last time the Bulls had a front office vacancy.

“(Brown) was offered the GM position by the Bulls under Karnisovas during the 2020 process,” he reported on ESPN.com.

Brown clearly has a great deal of pull around the league, particularly with the Bulls’ ownership, for him to continue to get these interviews despite his lack of front office experience.

Whoever the Bulls end up choosing will inherit an interesting young team that has some intriguing talent, primarily in the form of Josh Giddey, Matas Buzelis, and whoever they end up selecting this year, but also is clearly still a ways away from contention.

The next big offseason date for the Bulls is May 10, when the NBA lottery will take place.
