Bulls fans roast Patrick Williams for Arturas Karnisovas comment after firing

On Monday, the Chicago Bulls made waves when it was reported that they were cleaning house, relieving executive vice president of basketball operations Arturas Karnisovas and general manager Marc Eversley of their duties. The Bulls have largely stagnated ever since they made the playoffs in 2022, and the franchise’s higher-ups have clearly had enough.

One of that executive duo’s lasting legacies with the Bulls is the fact that not only did they draft Patrick Williams with the fourth overall selection in 2020, they also gave him a head-scratching (to say the least) extension worth a total of $90 million over five years despite not showing that he was worth keeping for that much money.

It should not come as a surprise to anyone at all that Williams is a fan of that duo and that he expressed his gratitude towards them for believing in him to the point where it may have contributed to costing their job.

“I have nothing but respect for those guys, who they’ve been to me as a young guy coming into the league. I was the youngest in the league, you know? Just for them to kind of mold me and push me in the right direction, put vets around me that I can learn from, it’s been huge. On the court, off the court, learning about the business, about the game, I can’t thank those guys enough,” Williams said, per K.C. Johnson of CHSN.

Naturally, Bulls fans clowned Williams for this statement, as many feel as though Karnisovas and Eversley overstayed their welcome.

“lol of course he will thank (them), they handed out one of the most absurd contracts to him I’ve ever seen,” @metsfan8626 added.

“Molded the 4th pick into a useless player with one of the worst contracts in the league, I’d love AKME too if they overpaid me like they did Patrick Williams,” @jrdolemite furthered.

“They molded him into the worst player in the league ,” @bullsjefe expressed.
