Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo fuels speculation about future with cryptic message

Giannis Antetokounmpo had a stunning message that foreshadows his future after the Milwaukee Bucks’ 2025-26 season came to an end on Sunday night.

Antetokounmpo went through multiple injuries throughout the season, his 13th in the NBA. After winning the championship in 2021, the Bucks haven’t enjoyed the same success as they suffered three consecutive first-round exits and will now miss the postseason completely this year.

Antetokounmpo spoke with media after the game, per reporter Eric Nehm. What he said to the reporter will garner serious attention as the offseason arrives for Milwaukee following this season.

“With the Milwaukee Bucks’ 2025-26 season complete, all attention turns, once again, to two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo and his future with the team. One question about his future stands out among the rest: Does Antetokounmpo feel he has played his last game as a member of the Bucks?” Nehm wrote.

“That’s a very good question,” Antetokounmpo said in response to a question from The Athletic on Sunday night. “I don’t know. It’s not up to me anymore. It’s not up to me. We’ll see.”

Giannis Antetokounmpo gave the Bucks so much throughout his remarkable stint. However, recent struggles might be putting a significant dent on the two parties as Antetokounmpo might not remain with Milwaukee much longer after this season.

Five players scored in double-digits for Milwaukee in the season-ending loss to Philadelphia. Cormac Ryan led the team with 22 points, 10 rebounds, four assists, and a steal. AJ Green came next with 19 points and five rebounds, Jericho Sims had 15 points and seven rebounds, while Taurean Prince put up 14 points and five rebounds. Meanwhile, Ousmane Dieng provided 11 points and eight assists.

Milwaukee ended the season with a 32-50 record, sitting at 11th place in the Eastern Conference standings. They finish above the Chicago Bulls and the Brooklyn Nets while trailing the Miami Heat and the Charlotte Hornets. The Bucks will transition to a new era, moving on from head coach Doc Rivers after three seasons.
