Bruins’ Nikita Zadorov slapped with fine after Rasmus Dahlin cross-check

The Boston Bruins are now down 3-1 in their Stanley Cup Playoffs series with the Buffalo Sabres. It was an embarrassing performance for the Bruins in Game 4, losing 6-1 to the Sabres, after falling down 4-0 in the first period.

During the game, as frustrations boiled over for the Bruins, Nikita Zadorov cross-checked Rasmus Dahlin. Now, he is learning his punishment from NHL Player Safety.

“Boston’s Nikita Zadorov has been fined $5,000, the maximum allowable under the CBA, for cross-checking Buffalo’s Rasmus Dahlin,” NHL Player Safety announced on X, formerly Twitter.

The Sabres scored three times in the first ten minutes of the game, with goals from Peyton Krebs, Josh Doan, and Zach Benson. They would add another goal in the period as Bowen Byram found the back of the net. After a scoreless second period, Beck Malenstyn and Alex Tuch both lit the lamp in the early part of the third period.

With less than four minutes left in the game after a stoppage in play, Zadorov approached Dahlin, cross-checking him. He was given a five-minute cross-checking major and a game misconduct, putting the Bruins down a player for the remainder of the game. Sean Kuraly was able to score a short-handed goal, but the game was already well in hand, as Buffalo took the 6-1 victory.

Now, the Sabres will look to end the series on home ice. The team has not won a playoff series since 2007, when they advanced to the Eastern Conference Finals, falling in five games to the Ottawa Senators. Game 5 is on Tuesday night, with puck drop at 7:30 p.m. ET.
