Bruins’ David Pastrnak hits elite milestone in final game before NHL playoffs
The Boston Bruins punctuated their regular season with a definitive 4-0 shutout of the New Jersey Devils, securing the top wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference after finishing the campaign with a 45-27-10 record and exactly 100 standings points. Notably, 29-year-old Bruins star David Pastrnak also reached the 100-point milestone for the fourth consecutive year, per a post on X by NHL.
Pastrnak recorded his 100th point via an assist on Morgan Geekie’s opening goal just 53 seconds into the game, marking his 71st assist of the season, tied for fifth-most in the league. He finished the regular season with 29 goals and 71 assists, continuing his streak of at least 40 goals and 60 assists in each of the previous two seasons.
Across his career, Pastrnak now totals 420 goals and 513 assists in 833 games, and is also one goal shy of extending his streak to nine consecutive full seasons with at least 30 goals. The game itself was decided early, with Boston scoring all four goals in the first period.
Geekie’s opener was followed by two goals from Mark Kastelic and a late-period strike from Viktor Arvidsson. The Devils, who finished 42-37-3 and seventh in the Metropolitan Division, were eliminated from playoff contention, managing just 21 shots against the Bruins.
In net, Jeremy Swayman recorded a whopping 21 saves for the second time this season, finishing the year with a 31-18-4 record, a 2.71 goals-against average, and a .908 save percentage.
The result sets up a first-round matchup against the Buffalo Sabres, marking Buffalo’s first postseason appearance in 15 years.
The Devils struggled to find momentum in their season finale, though captain Nico Hischier recorded his 1,000th faceoff win of the season. He is the only player in the league to hit that mark this year.
Despite the loss, Nico Daws made 22 saves in what was his first loss in three starts.
