Brian Windhorst sends Knicks’ Jalen Brunson warning before Game 2
The New York Knicks are looking to take a commanding 2-0 lead against the San Antonio Spurs in Game 2, and they showed in Game 1 that they can do it on the back of Jalen Brunson. The Knicks’ guard walked down the Spurs in the final minutes of Game 1, despite not having the best game overall.
That should be a positive sign for the Knicks, but also a scary one for the Spurs, and ESPN’s Brian Windhorst sent a warning before Game 2.
“I don’t think Jalen [Brunson] thinks he even played that well,” Windhorst said on NBA on ESPN. “I don’t think the Spurs feel they did a bad job on him because he’s 12-of-31… Brunson knows he can play better, … and what if he does? What if he actually has a good game tonight?”

Of course, Brunson can have a good game, and they can still lose, but the chances of that could be slim depending on how everyone around him performs. Nonetheless, regardless of what kind of game Brunson is having for the first three quarters doesn’t matter in crunch time, because he always seems to deliver in those moments.
After Game 1, Brunson spoke about his heroics down the stretch and how he was able to will the Knicks to victory.
“I think it starts with my confidence. It comes with my work ethic,” Brunson said via NBC News. “Most importantly, knowing we’re on the road, and knowing my teammates have my back, I think that’s the biggest thing in an environment like this — the trust they have in me and the trust I have in them, it’s got us to this point.”
The Spurs may feel like they did everything they could to stop Brunson in Game 1, but they’re going to have to increase the defensive pressure even more in Game 2 so they don’t fall to 0-2 in the series.
