Brewers receive huge Brandon Woodruff injury update
Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Brandon Woodruff is continuing to work his way back from a shoulder injury. It seems like Woodruff will return soon.
“Brandon Woodruff is rejoining the Brewers in Milwaukee later this week. Nothing set in stone, but it sounds like he could be a candidate to start next week against the Guardians,” Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reported on Wednesday.
Woodruff, 33, has appeared in six games this season. The right-handed hurler currently holds a 3.60 ERA across 30 innings of work on the mound. He has 25 strikeouts as well.
The Brewers are hoping to have the two-time All-Star return soon. However, Milwaukee is finding success despite his injury absence.
The Brewers are set to enter their contest on Wednesday night against the Athletics with a 41-24 overall record. Milwaukee is 4.5 games ahead of the second place St. Louis Cardinals in the National League Central at the moment.
Once again, Milwaukee was overlooked entering the new campaign. Of course, teams such as the Los Angeles Dodgers received most of the attention in the National League, but the Brewers were even overlooked in their division, as the Chicago Cubs captured no shortage of attention. Yet, the Cubs are currently tied for third place with the Pittsburgh Pirates with a 34-33 record in the NL Central.
The Brewers consistently upset expectations and find ways to play competitive baseball. Woodruff’s return will only further help Milwaukee moving forward.
For now, the ball club is focused on its upcoming game on Wednesday night against the Athletics. First pitch is scheduled for 9:05 PM EST.
