Brazil’s Ronaldo gives incredible Kylian Mbappé comp amid the World Cup
Despite a slow start at Real Madrid, fans saw Kylian Mbappé bounce back and perform for the “Los Galácticos” whenever his team needed him in his second season with Real Madrid. Despite his not-so-impressive performances in La Liga, Mbappé has continued to impress his critics at this year’s FIFA World Cup 2026.
In a recent interview with L’Equipe, as quoted by Goal.com, Ronaldo Nazário opened up about the legacies of soccer players and how they are not just defined by the records but by the influence they leave behind.
The Brazilian legend hailed Argentina’s Lionel Messi as one of the greatest footballers in history. “[Lionel] Messi is one of the greatest players in the history of football and he is still influential and decisive today,” he said. The former Real Madrid star also made a major comparison with Mbappé and expressed how his style of play reminds him of himself. “As for Mbappe, his playing style reminds me of myself at my peak. He is one of the greatest players in football today and a natural heir to the legends of the game.”

Mbappé kicked off his FIFA World Cup 2026 journey by scoring twice against Senegal, then added two more goals in France’s second group-stage game against Iraq. Despite not scoring against Norway, the French captain was instrumental in creativity, offering two assists that contributed to “Les Bleus'” impressive offensive performance. Alongside Messi, the French attacker is once again a strong contender for both the Golden Boot and the Golden Ball.
