Braves-Phillies game begins with Brandon Marsh robbing Ronald Acuna Jr. of home run
The Philadelphia Phillies are taking on the Atlanta Braves at home on Saturday in the second contest of the three-game series. The game got off to a hot start when Ronald Acuna Jr. hit a deep ball to center field off Cristopher Sanchez. However, Brandon Marsh ended up robbing the would-be home run.
Acuna launched the ball deep off Sanchez’s sinker up in the zone, which was the first pitch of the game. It nearly cleared the fence, but the Phillies’ 28-year-old outfielder jumped up in the nick of time to record the first out of the contest instead. Marsh strutted with confidence after making the catch.

Although Ronald Acuna did not record his second home run of the season on that play, the Braves managed to score three runs in the top of the third. Atlanta holds a 3-1 lead through three innings. The Braves are attempting to extend their winning streak to five, while the Phillies are trying to end their three-game losing streak on Saturday.
Acuna, who is 28 years old, has been getting on base consistently to begin the 2026 campaign, as he entered the contest with a .344 OBP. However, home runs have been a bit of a struggle. The nine-year veteran has recorded 19 hits, one home run, five RBIs, and four steals with a .247 batting average so far this season.
As for Brandon Marsh, he’s been a bright spot in a Phillies offense that has been otherwise lacking. His sixth season in MLB has been solid, as he owns a .290 batting average and .318 OBP with 18 hits, two home runs, and 11 RBIs.
