Above that, the puzzle of European qualification is still awaiting its final pieces. The number of Champions League berths from England remains fluid, largely depending on Aston Villa’s performance against Manchester City.

Should Europa League winners Villa lose, and Liverpool secure their Champions League spot by beating Brentford, then the sixth-placed team will also taste elite European football.

Bournemouth occupy that critical sixth position, guaranteeing themselves European football for the first time ever, though its exact form is unknown. They even harbor an outside hope of a top-five finish if results go their way dramatically.

Seven more clubs are still dreaming of Europe. Brighton currently leads the chasing pack in seventh, a point ahead of Chelsea and Brentford, both of whom face challenging away fixtures.

Sunderland, Everton, Newcastle, and Fulham are outsiders, each requiring a victory and a stroke of luck elsewhere.

Amidst this chaos, only three games lack direct implications for Europe or relegation. One of these will see Arsenal lift the Premier League trophy for the first time since 2004.

There will also be emotional goodbyes at the Etihad as Bernardo Silva and John Stones play their presumed final games, possibly alongside Pep Guardiola. Meanwhile, already-relegated Burnley and Wolves meet, with Burnley desperate to avoid the very bottom spot.
