Bodo/Glimt vs Manchester City predictions and betting tips – Guardiola’s side return to Europe

The Champions League is back for the seventh round of league phase fixtures. Manchester City are one of several teams targeting a top-eight finish, and a victory here would move them a step closer to realising that aim.

Can Bodo/Glimt put a spanner in the works, or will City march on with a fifth win in seven?

Bodo/Glimt vs Manchester City predictions

A seven-point deficit to Arsenal at the top of the Premier League does not mean Manchester City are out of the title race yet, but some of the club’s supporters feel Champions League glory should become City’s principal target for the remainder of the season.

It was a disappointing weekend for Pep Guardiola’s team, who were second best in a 2-0 defeat by Manchester United.

Arsenal could not take full advantage of City’s mishap, as the league leaders were held to a 0-0 draw by Nottingham Forest. Yet despite dropping two points at the City Ground, Mikel Arteta’s men extended their advantage at the summit of the standings.

Arsenal also lead the way in the Champions League, although City are well positioned too. Fourth out of 36 having picked up 13 points so far, Guardiola’s team are on course to finish in the top eight and advance directly to the round of 16.

City have already beaten Napoli (2-0), Villarreal (2-0), Borussia Dortmund (4-1) and Real Madrid (2-1), as well as drawing 2-2 with Monaco.

A 2-0 home loss to Bayer Leverkusen after Guardiola rotated his team that night remains the only blot on City’s copybook.

With a trip to Bodo/Glimt on Tuesday being followed by a home match against Galatasaray next week, City will fancy their chances of adding six more points to their tally.

They have not been perfect of late, however. City were flat against United in the Manchester derby – and that was not their only iffy display in recent weeks. Indeed, the loss at Old Trafford extended City’s winless streak in the league to four games.

Bodo/Glimt, for their part, are still waiting for their first victory of this Champions League campaign. After three draws and three defeats, the Norwegian outfit are 32nd in the table and will almost certainly miss out on the play-offs.

Bodo/Glimt have not played a competitive game since December 10, when they drew 2-2 with Borussia Dortmund on matchday six of the league phase.

They will be fresher than City as a result, although Bodo/Glimt may lack match sharpness having only played a couple of friendlies in 2026.

This is one of the biggest games in the club’s history. Can Bodo/Glimt pull off a shock result, or will City return to winning ways?

Bodo/Glimt vs Manchester City betting tips

Manchester City resume their Champions League campaign against Bodo/Glimt on Tuesday.

City back on track

Manchester City will be without several key players on Tuesday due to injury, suspension and, in the case of new signing Antoine Semenyo, ineligibility.

The starting XI that Guardiola chooses will be nowhere near full-strength, but City should still have too much for Bodo/Glimt.

The Norwegian upstarts did fantastically well to qualify for the Champions League, but they have struggled so far.

Five of their six games have featured over 2.5 goals, so combine that with an away victory for your first selection.

Bodo/Glimt can score

Marc Guehi is on his way to the Etihad Stadium, but his move from Crystal Palace will not be finalised in time for the centre-back to feature against Bodo/Glimt.

With Josko Gvardiol, John Stones and Ruben Dias all on the treatment table, Manchester City will again be forced to use a weakened backline here.

Nathan Ake is in line to partner Abdukodir Khusanov at the back, so Bodo/Glimt should be able to create one or two opportunities.

Kjetil Knutsen’s charges have scored in five out of six Champions League games up to now, and they can do so again here.

Haaland on scoresheet?

Erling Haaland has scored 20 goals in 22 Premier League matches this term, but his ratio in the Champions League is even better.

The Norway international, who will be returning to his home country on Tuesday, has struck six times in as many European games in 2025/26.

Like many of his team-mates, Haaland’s form has dipped in recent weeks. His last seven appearances in all competitions have yielded just one strike.

Up against this Bodo/Glimt defence, though, Haaland should have plenty of joy. City’s striker can draw first blood at the Aspmyra Stadion.
