Blue Jays’ Kevin Gausman shotguns beer with Leafs star on stage at Luke Combs concert hours before start vs. Orioles

The Toronto Blue Jays are currently trying to make up ground in the AL standings, sitting at 31-34 as the season enters its summer months. The Blue Jays haven’t exactly quelled concerns this season about their ability to bounce back from last year’s devastating Game 7 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers in the World Series.

On Saturday night, Blue Jays star Kevin Gausman joined Toronto Maple Leafs star William Nylander and country music singer Luke Combs onstage at the Rogers Center, where the trio shotgunned beers.

Making matters interesting is the fact that Gausman has a start on Sunday afternoon against the Baltimore Orioles for the series finale between the two teams. However, the fans in the comment section on X, formerly Twitter, nor the people at the concert, seemed to care very much about that fact.

Gausman has been playing well for the Blue Jays throughout this season, currently sitting with a 3.36 ERA on the season. Unfortunately, that success hasn’t been parlayed into much luck for the team overall, as the Blue Jays are still under the .500 mark as the season nears its halfway point.

The good news for Toronto is that the AL as a whole has been suffering through a down year, so it should only take one hot streak of games in order to get the Blue Jays right back into the playoff mix.

Currently, the Blue Jays are tied with the Orioles for third place in the AL East, seven games behind the New York Yankees, whom Toronto defeated in last year’s playoffs.

In any case, the finale of the Orioles vs Blue Jays series is slated for Sunday at 1:37 pm ET.
