Billy Donovan completly cutting ties with Bulls after stepping down

After relinquishing his job as head coach of the Chicago Bulls, Billy Donovan is getting out of Chicago entirely. On Friday, it was reported that Donovan and his wife, Christine, have put their Lincoln Park home on the market, per Bob Goldsborough of The Chicago Tribune.

Their six-bedroom, 5,200-square-foot limestone-and-masonry house will be on sale for $4.5 million. In 2021, the Donovans paid $3.5 million for the home using an opaque land trust, which keeps their identities sealed. The three-story home featured five bathrooms, two fireplaces, and an elevator.

In 2024, the Donovans paid a property tax bill of $67,442.

They also lived in the same neighborhood as former Chicago Cubs pitcher Kerry Wood and his wife, Sarah.

Overall, Donovan coached the Bulls for six seasons (2020-2026). He finished out his final season with a 31-51 record. Donovan walks away with a regular-season record of 226-256. The Bulls made one playoff appearance under him in 2022, losing in the first round to the Milwaukee Bucks in five games.

Since then, they struggled to garner 40 wins.

Meanwhile, the organization is undergoing a complete makeover from the top down. All began with the April 6 firings of the VP of Basketball Operations, Artūras Karnišovas, and General Manager Marc Eversley.

Also, Chicago is locked in on two first-round draft picks. This follows the Portland Trail Blazers’ loss in the Play-In game to the Los Angeles Clippers on April 10. All combined signals a potential new dynamic in the Chicago organization.

Suffice it to say, Donovan won’t be coming back to Chicago any time soon.
