Best betting promos and sportsbooks for MLB prop bets [April 16, 2026]

The Detroit Tigers headline Thursday’s slate of games with an AL Central divisional matchup against the Kansas City Royals.

After winning their last four games in a row, the Detroit Tigers have been able to chip away at the Minnesota Twins lead in the AL Central division standings, sitting just one game back from first.

Luckily for the red hot Tigers, they will be able to erase the deficit against the Kansas City Royals, facing off against a lineup who ranks near dead last in most offensive metrics.

With ten games taking place on Thursday, there are plenty of prop bets to groom through which you can read a detailed breakdown of them below.

Kansas City Royals vs Detroit Tigers (1:10pm, EST)

Keider Montero Under 4.5 Hits Allowed (-105) at BetMGM Sportsbook

While Tarik Skubal hogs the spotlight as the betting favorite for the AL Cy Young award, Keider Montero has quietly been just as productive as his teammate, averaging an ERA of 1.74, a WHIP of 0.677, and a FIP of 1.80.

Montero’s hot start to the year can be attributed to his low contact rate as he also averages less than one Hit Against per Inning Pitched.

Heading into Thursday, expect Montero to build on his momentum as he faces off against the Kansas City Royals who currently rank in the bottom three in Hit Rate.

Especially with his back end excelling in coverage per their above league average mark in Defensive Efficiency, narrowing the width of the Royals gaps in the outfield which increases his chances of staying under the total on his Hits Allowed prop.

Keider Montero Over 14.5 Outs (-145) at BetMGM Sportsbook

The Royals have also underwhelmed in their efforts of getting on base this season, grading out poorly in On Base Percentage and in Runs Scored.

With Montero excelling at avoiding contact, expect Kansas City to continue to struggle with advancing their runners into scoring position, allowing the Tigers pitcher to go through the full length of his start.

Toronto Blue Jays vs Milwaukee Brewers (1:40pm, EST)

Milwaukee Brewers First Five Innings Team Total Over 2.5 (+112) at FanDuel Sportsbook

After a brief stint with the Texas Rangers, Patrick Corbin fell flat on his face in his debut with the Toronto Blue Jays, averaging an ERA of 9.00 and a WHIP of 1.750 in his first start of the year.

His inability to create Whiffs makes it hard for him to punch out, generating less than one Strikeout per inning.

In a daunting matchup against the Milwaukee Brewers, Corbin’s struggles on the mound are poised to persist, battling it out against an offense who ranks in the top half of the board in Contact Rate, On Base Percentage, and in OPS.

For some more exposure, escalator bet the Brewers team total in the first five innings by placing smaller wagers on their alternate overs.

Brice Turang Over 1.5 Hits (+235) at BetMGM Sportsbook

Since the start of the regular season, Brice Turang has been able to play at a very high level, averaging more than one Hit per game and a 1.050 OPS.

With Corbin incapable of punching out while supported by an outfield who ranks 28th in Defensive Efficiency, expect Turang to continue to make contact at a high rate and clear the over on his Hits prop.

San Francisco Giants vs Cincinnati Reds (12:40pm, EST)

San Francisco Giants Team Total Under 3.5 (+112) at FanDuel Sportsbook

After finishing near the bottom of the board in most offensive metrics last year, the San Francisco Giants re-tooled lineup have been unable to round back into form this season, ranking below league average in Hit Rate, Runs Scored, RBIs, and in On Base Percentage.

Their low level of play on offense brings in a high amount of variance into their contests, making it hard for them to string together their wins.

Unfortunately for the Giants, their struggles on offense will be on full display against the Cincinnati Reds as they face off against Chase Burns who is currently averaging an ERA of 3.31 and less than one Hit Against per Inning Pitched.

Especially with the Reds surrounding Burns with a back end who thrives in coverage, fielding a group who ranks in the top-10 in Fielding Percentage.
