Avalanche’s Cale Makar, others listed as day-to-day before Golden Knights series

As the Stanley Cup Playoffs continue for the Colorado Avalanche, the team is also getting injury updates on some key players. Colorado is set to take on the Vegas Golden Knights in the Western Conference final. Avalanche fans hope that Cale Makar and others will be ready to go for Game 1.

According to Colorado’s head coach Jared Bednar, that might not be the case.

“Jared Bednar classified all the injured Avalanche players as “day-to-day.” And said “some” could practice soon. Obviously all eyes on Cale Makar over the next 96 hours,” Denver reporter Will Petersen posted to X, formerly Twitter.

Makar is one of the leaders on this Colorado team. In this year’s playoffs, the defenseman has five points.

Colorado is in this series after defeating the Minnesota Wild. The Avalanche needed just five games to eliminate the Wild from the playoffs.

During the season, the Avalanche performed well when they faced off against the Golden Knights.

“The Avalanche went 2-0-1 against the Golden Knights in the regular season,” NHL.com reported.

After defeating the Wild, Colorado’s players were grateful to have a bit of a break to prepare for the next round.

“The playoffs is a long grind and you want to keep your focus narrow,” Avalanche defenseman Brett Kulak said. “So I think for us, it’s just been Minnesota the last number of days, but now we can get some rest and turn our attention.”

Colorado and Vegas play Game 1 on Wednesday of this series. The winner of the seven-game series will advance to the Stanley Cup final.

Vegas and Colorado have met once before in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. That came back in 2021, with the Golden Knights toppling the Avalanche.
