Aston Villa vs Lille predictions
Villa did win away from home against Lille in the first leg last week but haven’t done well domestically recently.
They lost 3-1 against United on Sunday afternoon, lost 4-1 at home to Chelsea 4-1 the week prior and even lost to bottom of the table Wolves at the end of February.
Lille could launch a surprise but the fact they didn’t at home, suggests there may be some trouble for them at Villa Park.
Aston Villa vs Lille betting tips
Giroud to fire Lille back
Olivier Giroud is back playing in England against a Premier League side as the former Arsenal and Chelsea man is Lille’s first choice striker.
He always has the potential of putting Lille back into the knockout game.
And he could be their answer with his experience playing against Premier League outfits.
He is 39-years-old now but has five goals in 23 appearances in La Liga and four goals in just 11 appearances in the Europa.
Can Villa’s struggle to score come to bite them?
Villa are surely able to progress into the next round, they can defend a 1-0 lead while also likely being able to add to it.
Even if they do concede to a Giroud goal the likes of Andre Onana can make it tough for opposition to dominate midfield against Villa.
However, they have been conceding plenty of goals and can even struggle scoring goals themselves.
So they will need to score again to insure themselves. The likes of Ollie Watkins and Morgan Rogers are bagging the most goals for Villa but perhaps the pressure of these games could hinder them.
They went the first five games in the league without a goal and it got to the point of being too concerning.
And recently they’ve hit a rough patch of form too scoring just seven in their last nine in all competitions.
That said, I can’t see them not progressing through due to losing 2-1 on aggregate, it could be they lose 1-0 to Lille, go to extra-time and have to rely on penalties to go through.
