Aroldis Chapman demands Brian Cashman apology if he wants trade from Red Sox

The disastrous season of the Boston Red Sox marches on, and it seems quite likely that the last-place team will come to the conclusion that a spot in the American League playoffs is no longer within their grasp. Once general manager Craig Breslow comes to the conclusion that the Red Sox will benefit from trading their top assets, it seems likely that closer Aroldis Chapman will be among the most sought after players on the roster.

Chapman has heard the rumors and there is nothing he can do to either prevent them or make them come to fruition. However, if the New York Yankees want to reacquire Chapman, the hard-throwing southpaw would want an apology from Yankees senior vice president/general manager Brian Cashman.

At the conclusion of his second run with the Yankees in 2022, Chapman was left off the playoff roster after missing a mandatory practice. The Yankees accused him of insubordination, but Chapman insisted that he had permission to miss the practice.

As a result, Chapman would want Cashman to deliver an apology before he rejoins the Yankees. “What happened, happened,” Chapman said, per ESPN.com. “If something like this were to happen, I believe someone from this organization should apologize first.”.

Chapman has been razor sharp for the Red Sox again this season even though the team is floundering with a 27-39 record. He has given up just one run and struck out 26 batters in 19.2 innings this season. He has had 13 save opportunities and has converted all of them. Chapman converted 32 saves for the Red Sox last year when they earned a spot in the American League playoffs.
