Arike Ogunbowale is one of the WNBA’s best known bucket-getters. The Dallas Wings star was part of a championship-winning Mist BC team in Unrivaled this week, but her celebration turned ugly after she was arrested for battery at a Miami club.

Ogunbowale allegedly punched in a man in the face at Club E11EVEN in Miami on Thursday night. She was charged with misdemeanor battery. The arrest happened at 4:22 a.m. Ogunbowale is now home safely, according to WNBA insider Annie Costabile.

The Wings issued the following statement:

Unrivaled issued this statement:

Ogunbowale is a free agent whenever the WNBA and WNBAPA comes to a new collective bargaining agreement. She is on the brink of her 29th birthday, and was playing on a max contract worth $242K last season.

How the Wings go about building around reigning Rookie of the Year Paige Bueckers is one of the big questions in the league this offseason. Ogunbowale has been a proven bucket-getter, but she isn’t always the most efficient scorer.

We’ll update this story as it develops.
