Saturday night’s fight in Jeddah is intended to be a warm up for Joshua’s long awaited fight with Tyson Fury, rumoured to be held at Wembley Stadium in either October or November this year.

This weekend’s bout will be the first time the two-time unified world heavyweight champion has fought since his victory over Jake Paul back in December in Miami, where the Englishman knocked the American out in the sixth round.

That victory leaves AJ, with a career record of 29-4 ahead of this week’s trip to Saudi Arabia, with his win over Paul getting him back to winning ways after being knocked out by Daniel Dubois in his previous bout, an IBF heavyweight title clash at Wembley in September 2024.

The 36-year-old won’t have fond memories of his only previous fight in Saturday night’s arena, having lost his rematch against Oleksandr Usyk at the Jeddah Superdome back in August 2022.

Prenga, Joshua’s opponent this weekend, carries a 20-1 record into Saudi Arabia with him, with 100% of his victories coming via knockout, with five of his last seven fights, including each of his last three, being stopped in the first round.

The Albanian has won each of his last 16 professional fights, the most recent of which coming against Joe Jones in Atlantic City, New Jersey in February earlier this year.

The 35-year-old’s only defeat in his career came against Giovanni Auriemma of the Netherlands back in February 2017, the only fight of Prenga’s career to have can all the way to points.

Saturday’s will be by far the biggest fight of his career having never previously managed to make a name for himself globally in the heavyweight division, with nine of his last 10 fights coming in smaller arenas in Mid-Atlantic USA.
