Angels star Mike Trout’s obvious reason for probably not participating in Home Run Derby

Mike Trout is from New Jersey and many fans were hoping that he would consider participating in the Home Run Derby this year, as the event is being held in Philadelphia which is not far from Trout’s home state. It remains to be seen if Trout would have strongly considered participating if he was not dealing with an injury. However, he is currently dealing with a hamstring injury and the Angels star likely won’t participate in the derby, according to Mike DiGiovanna.

“#Angels CF Mike Trout said he is leaning against participating in the HR Derby at ASG in Philly. The reason? ‘I hurt my hamstring,’ he said,” DiGiovanna reports.

In all reality, the entire MLB world would love to see Trout in the event. Trout has dealt with injuries over the years and his Angels have not reached the postseason since 2014. Receiving the opportunity to see Trout in a big event would catch the attention of MLB fans. However, unless something changes soon, Trout is probably not going to participate this season.

For now, Trout’s primary focus is on his recovery from the injury. Before landing on the injured list, Trout was hitting .234/.394/.472 to go along with 17 home runs. He may end up landing on the All-Star team, but it remains to be seen if Trout would return in time to be able to play.

Updates on Mike Trout’s injury status will continue to be monitored and provided as they are made available. Meanwhile, the Angels are hosting the Athletics on Friday night at 9:38 PM ET.
