Angels make Travis d’Arnaud injury decision before Blue Jays game

The Los Angeles Angels placed catcher Travis d’Arnaud on the 10-day injured list due to right foot plantar fasciitis on Friday ahead of their game against the Toronto Blue Jays, the team announced. The move is retroactive to Thursday. Additionally, the Angels selected the contract of catcher Omar Martinez in a corresponding move.

d’Arnaud suffered the injury during a recent game. The 37-year-old catcher was hitting .200/.300/.314 across 14 games played before suffering the injury. A former All-Star, d’Arnaud is not the same player he once was. With that being said, he is still capable of making an impact at the big league level.
