Analyst’s Brewers bold claim will catch Cubs, Cardinals’ attention

The Milwaukee Brewers are surging with a 29-18 record, winning eight of their last ten games, and are in first place in the NL Central. Many observers, including A.J. Pierzynski, have touted Milwaukee as one of the teams to beat.

That sentiment was echoed by MLB analyst Joel Sherman, who believes this year’s Brew Crew is better than last year’s, per MLB Network.

[Yes]. I’m not even sure it’s close,” Sherman said.

Certainly, that will strike at the heart of the Chicago Cubs and St. Louis Cardinals, who are 2nd and 3rd in the NL Central.

Sherman pointed out that the Brewers have an outstanding record against teams over .500 at this point in the season. They are currently 17-6, whereas last year they were 46-38.

That, combined with the dynamic pitching duo of Jacob Misiorowski and Kyle Harrison, changes the game.

Lately, the Brewers’ success has been attributed to strong pitching, consistent hitting with runners in scoring position, and aggressiveness on the base paths. All the while, the Brewers are ranked dead last in the league in home runs with 33.

They are currently 3rd in the league with 54 stolen bases. Plus, they are 4th in runs scored per game with 5.04. Additionally, they are 3rd in run scoring percentage at 35%.

Jacob Misiorowski continues to add his name to the history books. Recently, he became the only pitcher to record 30 strikeouts without allowing an earned run or extra base hit, and he is already cementing himself as a top contender for the NL Cy Young Award.

Last year, the Brewers won 97 games and won the NL Central. Ultimately, they got swept by the eventual champion Los Angeles Dodgers in the NLCS.
