It shouldn’t be a surprise that some celebrities, like Timothée Chalamet, who skipped the Met Gala in favor of the New York Knicks’ Game 1 win over the Philadelphia 76ers, came out to Madison Square Garden on Monday, May 4, 2026.

Other big names, like The Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon, who had his shoes untied by Josh Hart, were also there, as was folk singer-songwriter Noah Kahan.

Some of the other celebrities at the game include Shaboozey, Tracy Morgan, Francisco Lindor, John Franco, Action Bronson, Edie Falco, Steve Schirripa, Susie Essman, Chris Meloni, and Jadakiss. A-Boogie Wit Da Hoodie performed the halftime show as well.

Several New York athletes were there as well. Former New York Giants edge rusher Justin Tuck was there, as was JR Smith, who played for the Knicks from 2012 to 2015. Walt Frazier, who helped lead New York to their two championships, was there sporting his rings.

Chalamet was one of the many celebrities at the Knicks’ Game 1 win over the Sixers. While his girlfriend, Kylie Jenner, was at the Met Gala uptown, he was at the Garden. This is the second year in a row that he skipped the event to watch a Knicks playoff game.

His fellow superfan, Ben Stiller, wasn’t able to make it to the game. However, he made his fandom known while at the Met Gala, wearing an orange tie while his wife, Christine Taylor, wore a blue dress.

Game 2 takes place on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, once again at the Garden. Perhaps Stiller and others who missed Game 1 in favor of the Met Gala will be there.

The Knicks won Game 1 in convincing fashion, beating the Sixers by 39 points. Jalen Brunson scored a game-leading 35 points while making 75% of his shots.
