Alex Tuch’s playoff point streak achieves Sabres feat not seen since 2011

The Buffalo Sabres defeated the Boston Bruins in Game 3 of their first-round series. Buffalo now holds a 2-1 series lead after winning Game 1 over the Bruins in Buffalo. It was a close game, but veteran forward Alex Tuch was the difference maker for the visiting Sabres.

Buffalo and Boston were tied 1-1 in the third period. Tuch retrieved a loose puck in the offensive zone and waited patiently for an opportunity to shoot. He rifled a shot on goal, which beat Jeremy Swayman and gave the Sabres the lead.

This goal gave Tuch a three-game point streak in these playoffs. This is a notable feat for Buffalo, as well. Tuch is the first Sabres player with a three-game playoff point streak since 2011, the team confirmed on social media. Tyler Ennis previously completed the feat, recording four points in three games from April 20th to April 24th in 2011.

Tuch has long been an important member of the Sabres top-six. He joined the team in 2021 through the Jack Eichel trade. And he has emerged as a legitimate offensive force for this team. In 2025-26, he recorded 33 goals and 66 points in 79 games.

This is an important time for Buffalo and Tuch individually. They are chasing a Stanley Cup, but Tuch is playing for more than that. He is a free agent this summer and stands to be one of the premier free agents on the market should he reach free agency.

The Sabres are in the driver’s seat once again in this series. They still have work to do, but Game 4 could land them one step closer to a series victory.
