Alabama football beats out Georgia for talented 2027 cornerback

The Alabama football program is currently preparing for the upcoming 2026 college football season, which is slated to get underway in September. The Crimson Tide are hoping to bounce back after a blowout loss to the eventual national champion Indiana Hoosiers ended their season in the Rose Bowl last year.

A big part of the offseason for any national powerhouse is hitting the recruiting trail, and on Sunday, it was revealed that Kalen DeBoer and company had earned a big win in that department with a new commitment.

“BREAKING: Class of 2027 CB Darrius White has Committed to Alabama, he tells me for @Rivals. The 6’3 185 CB chose the Crimson Tide over Florida State, Georgia, and Cincinnati,” reported Hayes Fawcett of On3 Sports and Rivals on X, formerly Twitter.

““#IMHOME All Glory To God,” wrote White, alongside a prayer emoji.

White is a three-star prospect from Fairburn, Georgia, and attended Creekside High School. Rivals has him ranked as the number 59 cornerback in the class of 2027.

The fact that Alabama was able to beat out Georgia for his commitment says a lot, especially considering that he is from that state, and the hope is that he will join the Crimson Tide’s long pipeline of elite defensive back prospects that they have assembled over the years.

Of course, in today’s college football landscape, a commitment is not exactly a sure thing, but it’s certainly good news for DeBoer and his staff to secure it for the time being.

Meanwhile, the Crimson Tide will look to take another step forward in 2026 after a roller coaster 2025 season that saw Alabama start out with a disaster vs Florida State, round into form to become a legit championship contender, then taper off down the stretch of the season.
