BYU failed to have a deep run in the NCAA Tournament despite the sensational talent of AJ Dybantsa. The No. 6 Cougars were bounced out in the first round after losing to Texas, 79-71.

It was likely the final game of Dybantsa with BYU, as he is expected to enter this year’s NBA Draft. Many are projecting him to be the No. 1 pick. He could be the first player from BYU to be drafted first overall in the NBA.

The freshman forward, who averaged 25.5 points, 6.8 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.1 steals and broke Kevin Durant’s record in the Big 12 Tournament, should make an immediate impact wherever he lands in the NBA.

But Dybanta is not the only player on the move for the Cougars. According to Field of 68’s Jeff Goodman, Robert Wright III is set to enter the transfer portal.

Wright was Dybantsa’s running mate at BYU, averaging 18.1 points, 3.5 rebounds, 4.6 assists, and 1.2 steals. He was named to the All-Big 12 Third Team, while Dybantsa was selected to the All-Big 12 First Team.

If the speedy guard ends up leaving, he will play for his third team in as many years. He spent his freshman year at Baylor, averaging 11.5 points, 2.1 rebounds, 4.2 assists, and 1.0 steals.

Wright is the latest notable name to enter the transfer portal following Flory Bidunga of Kansas, Terrence Brown of Utah, Khani Rooths of Louisville, and Kayden Edwards of TCU.

While transferring could earn Wright heavy backlash, making a leap of faith could also pay off, as proven by Elliott Cadeau of Michigan, who won a national title and was named Most Outstanding Player in this year’s NCAA Tournament.
