Lewis stepped away from competitive darts in 2023 before losing his tour card at the start of last year due to inactivity.

However, he could be set to make a long-anticipated return to Q School in 2027.

Lewis’ weight loss secret

The 41-year-old has ditched alcohol and adopted a healthier lifestyle, which he has explained includes plenty of walking.

Lewis lifted the lid on his weight loss journey during an appearance on the Double Tops podcast.

During the interview, he explained: “Over the last 14 months, I’ve lost about three and a half stone (22.2kg).

“I’ve been doing a lot of walking, eating healthier, staying away from the booze.

“Consciously doing it because you have to be fit for when you come back on tour eventually.”

Lewis’ exit from the PDC Tour in 2023 ended a 20-year stay at the top of the sport.

During that time, he won the UK Open and European Championship alongside his two PDC World Darts Championship triumphs.

Jackpot also reached the final of the World Matchplay, World Grand Prix, Premier League, Players Championship Finals and Masters.

Lewis eyes PDC return

However, he must now come through Q School if he wants to make a return to the PDC Tour.

Having previously hinted at attending the qualifying event, Lewis added: “I think I needed a break.

“After 20 years, I definitely needed it. Now I feel refreshed, and I just want to go back and enjoy it.

“It’ll be Q School. I’m not expecting to get straight back into the top 16 anytime soon.

“I just want to enjoy it. When I go back, I want to enjoy it. That’s what it’s about.”

Although it has been three years since he appeared in a PDC event, Lewis has since returned to competitive darts.
