‘Be very disappointed’ – Darts star expresses concern that PDC will strip him of iconic walk-on song
Nathan Aspinall is worried that his iconic walk-on song Mr. Brightside could be given to someone else if he does not get picked for the Premier League.
Aspinall will not qualify automatically for the Premier League, with only the top four in the PDC order of merit going straight through.

As it stands, this is Luke Littler, Luke Humphries, Michael van Gerwen, and Stephen Bunting.
The four qualifiers are then joined by four wildcards.
Aspinall was given one of those in 2025 and that decision had been criticised by a number of fellow pros.
The 34-year-old has slipped down the order of merit and is 15th currently and his selection again would likely cause more controversy.
Aspinall is a Premier League fan favourite and his walk-on gets the crowd amped up.
Now he has admitted he is worried that it could go to someone else, if he doesn’t make it.
“I hope they wouldn’t do it to me but I have had a bit of a concern at the moment, obviously because I’ve fallen down the rankings and I might not potentially be in the Premier League this year,” said Aspinall in an interview with The Sun.
“Mr Brightside makes the Premier League, in my opinion. Everyone loves it. Are they going to give it to someone else for the Premier League? Can they do that? I don’t know.
“I’d be very disappointed if they did. That’s the only thing that I’ve thought about recently that could potentially happen. They can do what they want, can’t they? Let’s be honest.
“They probably wouldn’t care if I wasn’t in the Premier League, if you see what I mean, but that’s the only thing I’ve had a bit of a concern about recently.

“Say Gian van Veen, he’s got some weird Dutch song. Would they want him to walk out to that in England because everyone loves Mr Brightside? I don’t know. That’s something I thought that might happen.”
Aspinall on Premier League chances
Aspinall has featured at the Premier League in six of the last seven years, making the final in 2020 and semi-finals on two other occasions.
He reached the quarter-final of the World Champions and UK Open this year, but has otherwise struggled with results.
“Have I done enough to be involved? No, nowhere near. It’s already sold out anyway, so that line, ‘Nathan puts bums on seats’ – I’m probably putting myself out of a job here – but I’m like, they’ve already sold out anyway.
“I know a lot of people want me in the Premier League.
“Of course I want to be in it, but I think if you look at the players at the moment, am I in that top eight?

“No, but I’m not far off, though. I’ll probably say, as it stands now, I reckon I’m about 10th.”
Aspinall will face Lourence Ilagan in the opening round of the World Championship next week.
