The Philadelphia 76ers are still basking in the glow of their recent free agency signing of LeBron James. The move, combined with their recent deal to acquire Jaylen Brown from the Boston Celtics, positions the 76ers seemingly as legit title contenders heading into the 2026-27 season.

Recently, James’ new Philadelphia No. 23 jersey went on sale, and unsurprisingly, it is flying off the shelves.

“LeBron James’ No. 23 Sixers jersey is the best-selling jersey ever for any player in the first 48 hours after their announcement, surpassing the previous record set by Shohei Ohtani when he joined the Dodgers in 2023,” reported ClutchPoints on X, formerly Twitter, citing data from Fanatics.

James has been the biggest name in the NBA for over two decades now, and clearly, his star power hasn’t diminished, even as his game on the court has. While James is no longer a top-ten player in the NBA, he is still capable of orchestrating the offense and making smart reads, and can still put pressure on the rim and get out in transition, while saving his defense mostly for quick bursts.

It will be fascinating to see how the 76ers work James into the fray along with Brown. On paper, the 76ers have several players who are accustomed to having the ball in their hands and aren’t particularly great at playing off the ball, but if anyone can make it work, it is James and his otherworldly basketball IQ.

The defense also figures to be a glaring question mark heading into this season, as is their health, which is always a question with Joel Embiid in the mix.

In any case, the 76ers’ schedule for the upcoming season is slated to be released at some point next month.
