The San Francisco 49ers ended the 2026 NFL Draft with yet another running back on their roster. Three days later, they continue to go back to the well and have come to terms with former Las Vegas Raiders breakout star Sincere McCormick.

The 49ers gave McCormick a one-year deal, they announced on Tuesday. They simultaneously announced their signing of former Miami Dolphins safety Patrick McMorris.

McCormick has not played in a regular season game since his late-year 2024 breakout season with the Raiders, during which he racked up 183 rushing yards in four games. Las Vegas waived the UTSA alum during its 2025 final roster cuts, and he subsequently spent the next year bouncing between various practice squads, including the 49ers’.

McCormick also had stints with the Denver Broncos and the Arizona Cardinals, but could not break into either team’s active roster.

By signing McCormick, the 49ers are set to begin training camp with six running backs on their roster. The 25-year-old joins Christian McCaffrey, Jordan James, Isaac Guerendo, Patrick Taylor and 2026 third-round pick Kaelon Black. Even a coach like Kyle Shanahan, who has a well-known affinity for the position, will not keep that many tailbacks on his final 53-man roster.

While McCaffrey is the clear leader of the group, the No. 2 job remains up for grabs. Guerendo and Taylor have had success in San Francisco before, but the team will have high expectations for James and Black. James was one of the team’s early 2026 breakout candidates before the front office invested another early-round pick in Black.
