$25m piece falls into place for NFL team’s new $2.2bn stadium ahead of grand unveiling

The Tennessee Titans will soon have a state-of-the-art stadium to call home.

While the franchise and their fans had little to shout about on the field in 2025, finishing with a dismal 3-14 record, they can take comfort in the fact that their new facility is nearing competition.

Scheduled to open in the summer of 2027, the Titans’ new home is being constructed in the shadow of their 69,000-capacity Nissan Stadium, which sits on the east bank of the Cumberland River in Nashville.

With a cost of $2.2 billion, the New Nissan Stadium is set to be a huge upgrade on the original, despite a smaller capacity and a ‘cookie cutter’ design that has been slammed by some NFL fans.

The latest photos, and a recent fly-through video shared by the Titans, reveal that the project is coming along well.

A new greenway ramp, connecting the East Bank to the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge, was approved on February 19.

The decision marks another step in a long line of infrastructure projects needed to improve pedestrian and vehicle access around the New Nissan Stadium.

According to the Nashville Tennessean, the project is estimated to cost $25m.

Funding will come out of the authority’s Eligible Project Fund, which was established alongside the new stadium deal to support ongoing projects on the Titans’ footprint on the East Bank.

The team will take on the design and construction process for the greenway connector, in collaboration with the Metro Nashville Planning Department and other stakeholders.

It’s believed the connector could take up to 22 months to design and construct, and it will serve as an entry and exit point for the pedestrian bridge.

The project is separate from any other upgrades needed for the bridge, with other enhancements eventually requiring part of the structure to be closed, so that it can connect all the way to the new stadium.

As a result of forward planning, the connector will be completed before any other portion of the bridge is closed for construction, and people will be able to walk across the river to get to the East Bank during any future construction phases.

Titans’ senior vice president and COO Daniel Werly has previously said that more than half of stadium attendees will use the pedestrian bridge to get over to the site, which means keeping it accessible during the work is crucial.

When will the new Titans stadium be completed?

Construction on the Titans’ new home field began two years ago, and remains on pace to be completed by February 2027.

“You know, bells and whistles aren’t in yet — the flooring and the millwork and the furniture — but I think you just can feel everything in this stadium coming alive,” CEO Burke Nihill said back in September.

“It’s not renderings anymore. It’s real.”

Much of the work has been completed inside the structure, and the playing field is expected to be installed around mid-2026, which would mark another major milestone.

Seats are also expected to be put in by the end of this year.

The New Nissan Stadium is certainly progressing, and as it rises in the shadow of their current home, quarterback Cam Ward and his Tennessee teammates will hope for some progress on the field next season, as they prepare to move home.
